Skiing up a storm
Three dozen girls skiing in 16 teams whizzed through the State Interschools Snowsports Championships at Perisher late August, skiing across all categories – Alpine, Moguls, Cross Country, Skier Cross, Snowboard Grand Slalom and Snowboard Cross.
All from Years K to 11 skiers competed incredibly well: Wenona came first of 6 schools in the Female Primary Overall XC Championships and we came second of 11 secondary schools in the Female Secondary Overall XC Championships. Primary girls came first among 12 schools - again - in the Female Primary Overall Championships. Then, with almost no Year 11s competing due to exams but fantastic leadership from Snowsports Captain Chloe, senior Wenona girls came sixth out of 18 schools in the Female Secondary Overall Championships.
These top results sent 28 girls from Years 2 to 11 skiing in 21 teams up to the next level - to compete in the Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships, September 6 to 10, at Mt Buller. Best of luck to everyone.
