Crowd-pleasing Spring Fair

A huge turn-out and top attractions made the biennial Wenona Spring Fair a happy and happening event.

Rides such as jumping castles and stalls such as the Boarders’ Farmers Market were once again the hotspots and stayed busy all day. Many thanks go to our boarders’ wonderful families whose produce gets rave reviews and is kindly donated to Wenona.  The artisan nougat, rocky road and tomato relish, as well as the magnificent Narromine oranges were snapped up.

Thanks must go to the WPA Committee and all volunteers, including our alumnae (whose French-themed café was very popular) and supporters, including local arts and crafts companies and those who donated more than 40 fantastic raffle prizes.

Appreciation of teachers was unusually high, as they went way beyond their job descriptions at the dunking machine - drawing a crowd as they were repeatedly soaked. Prefects also generously volunteered for the wash.  Giggles surrounded the mechanical bull, too, where a steady stream of riders took on the beast with just a few tips from the ride’s manager.

The trash and treasure stall was crowded and crazy - some children even bought back toys their family had donated!

The fantastic finale was the 22nd Wenona Rock Concert, featuring about 100 musicians, dancers, singers, and crew - all students from Years 7 to 12. They directed their own performances, choreography, costumes and managed backstage support, with a little help from parents.

Everyone had a ball, and all would agree the huge effort pulling the event together was more than worthwhile.
