Cook-off with a twist

Teachers went head-to-head in a Masterchef-style cook-off in the undercroft this week, testing their skills on simple blokey fare: schnitzel and salad. Mr Little (maths, science) and Mr Douglas (languages) and many student cakesellers attracted a throng for this Hooke House charity event. Annabelle from Hooke House kept up the commentary while her Year 10 colleagues worked the crowd, shaking the tin for Bright Hospitality which funds hospitality training for migrants and refugees in Australia.

In 15 minutes flat, Mr Douglas and Mr Little both added a twist to the set-menu favourites. Mr Little whipped up schnitzel pieces coated and fried in chocolate. Mr Douglas made a more conventional crumbed schnitzel but laced his green salad with Fruit Loops and choc chunks. The judges’ palates were outraged by Mr Little’s chocolate-chicken combo so the judges marked him down to just 4, against Mr Douglas’ whopping 7 points. Asked about his prize, Mr Douglas said “I get the glory, plus I don’t have to eat his chocolate chicken”.
