  • Boarding week highlights life-long skills and friendships - Wenona boarders reflect on the advantages of calling school home during National Boarding Week.
  • Code breaking and creation fun at Decathlon - Wenona’s STEM success has continued with Year 5 students placing second in the Engineering Challenge of the da Vinci Decathlon.
  • Debating complements curriculum - Wenona students brought classroom insights and teamwork skills to their successful debates in this years' Independent Schools’ Debating Association competition.
  • Year 5 students place 2nd in 'da Vinci Decathlon' - Wenona’s success in Science, technology, Engineering and mathematics (STEM) has continued with Year 5 students placing second in the Engineering Challenge of the da Vinci Decathlon.

  • Glowing reports of an inspiring world vision - Eight Year 10 students were powerfully inspired by the World Vision Conference 2017 at the International Convention Centre, Darling Harbour on 13 June. Held annually in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, the conference aimed to broaden horizons about current issues and how to do act on them. It also outlined this year’s 40-hour famine project and how Wenona could run its own.
  • Happy Foundation Day, Wenona - Originally held on the birthday of Wenona founder, Edith Hooke, Foundation Day has changed over the years but is always a huge celebration of the spirit and achievements of the school.
  • Kindergarten go places with learning - Kindergarten students brought colour to Wenona and connected Science and Geography concepts with a special tour of the school.
  • Kindest cut - The excitement and nerves were palpable, and the cheering, clapping nearly deafening, at Wenona’s third annual ponytail donation which saw 42 girls’ ponytails get the chop in the Independent Theatre on Wednesday.
  • Lots of dots - The school counsellor’s waiting room in the upper Judith Dey Gallery building was transformed into a dotty and engaging user experience this week
  • Moot competition offers insight to uni life - Wenona Year 11 students were on point during their visit to Queensland’s Bond University for the institution’s High School Mooting Competition.
  • Music therapy group on song - Students embodied service learning and pleased ears at a music therapy concert for aged care residents.
  • Passing inspection with distinction - An outstanding performance of an abridged version of 'The Government Inspector' by Nicolai Gogal was performed and adapted by Year 10 drama students in June to much applause.
  • Peer support trainees ready to lead - Year 6 students learnt the art of being active listeners as part of their training to lead Wenona’s Junior School peer support program.
  • Pigs may fly - The winning Design Thinking team this week was known during the workshop as “The Flying Pigs” and their winning re-design of the junior school library was so detailed, it just might fly.
  • Play in rewind brings Shakespeare to life - Bell Shakespeare actors presented 'Romeo and Juliet' to Year 8 English students – with a twist.
  • Smooth sailing for Duke of Ed adventure - Year 9 students ventured to Lane Cove National Park for a two-day hiking and canoeing adventure as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
  • Sophisticated chat in Japanese - Year 12 HSC Japanese Continuers students took part in a Japanese Speaking Skills workshop and sat four practice exams with different examiners to prepare for their oral HSC exam.
  • Teachers chart paths to deeper thinking - Wenona teachers began Term 2 with a professional development day that explored ways to build a culture of reflection and help students actively seek feedback.
  • Vivid Sydney Light Show - Half a dozen girls accompanied by Boarding House staff went to Vivid light spectacular. Starting at the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House then through to the Botanical Gardens.
  • Walkers in the pink - Huge congratulations to our "Wenona Walkers" for taking out the largest school category in "The Mothers’ Day Classic" fundraiser with a contingent of more than 250 walkers.
  • Walking tour a glimpse into Australia's history - Wenona’s Year 4 students gained a clearer understanding of Australia’s aboriginal and colonial history with a walking tour of The Rocks.
  • Wenona game changers stage silent protest - Wenona’s Amnesty Group staged a takeover of social media dedicated to the Year 12 theme that asks students to show kindness, determination and stand up for what they believe in.
  • Wenona Platoon goes from strength to strength - Wenona’s Cadets ranked highly in a Junior Promotions Course held in April, with five among the top 10 participants just six weeks after the School introduced the co-curricular activity.
  • Wenona students shine in Mosman Art Prize - Wenona students were well represented in the 2017 Mosman Youth Art Prize, with twelve past and current students’ works selected for exhibition and two awarded scholarships.
  • When the chemistry is right - Wenona’ science labs buzzed with about 60 busily titrating chemists last weekend – when the school was one of the venues for NSW Inter-Schools Schools Titration Competition. Our chemists Sarah, Sophie and Natalie were so accurate they won first place among the schools competing at Wenona - congratulations. Bethlehem College (Ashfield) came second, with St Mary’s Cathedral College in third place
