Renaissance Women Leaders' Network

RWLN banner

At our Renaissance Women Leaders’ Network event last night, social entrepreneur Jan Owen AM inspired us to unleash the potential of young people through multidisciplinary creative design and collaboration. She urged us not to ask young people "What do you want to be when you grow up?", but rather, "What is the world you want to create?" We may be amazed by how they will respond.

Jan is the CEO of the Foundation for Young Australians, and author of The Future Chasers.

Jan encouraged us to view strategic disruption as the role of educators and asked us to think about how we reimagine learning for our young people so that they can enter a rapidly different world. She highlighted the staggering statistic that an increase of 212% of employers are looking for digital literacy in their employees. This is the key to delivering a pedagogy of collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication and connection.

What a fantastic and thought provoking evening as summed up by Anne Gripton:

And if Twitter and the hashtag  is any indication of how well the evening was received, it appeared to be a great inspiration to many:
