A Ground Breaking Occasion
On Friday 17 February 2017, a group of parents, donors and staff braved the adverse weather to officially break the ground of Wenona’s new STEM Centre and Sporting Facility.
Thankfully, the weather held off long enough for the official ceremony. Student representatives from each part of the school—Charlotte of Year 12, Emily of Year 7 and Sophie of Year 6—took part in the Ground Breaking Ceremony. Together with Principal Dr Briony Scott, Chair of the Wenona Board of Governors Mr Gary Turner and Chair of the Capital Appeal Committee Mrs Marie Soghomonian, they turned some dazzling gold shovels in the dirt.
With Kane Construction formally engaged in December 2016, the ceremony marked the start of the building works. Set up is underway and excavation is due to start in the coming weeks.
As always, we remain subject to the vagaries of Council approvals, neighbours, traffic, weather and more, but look forward to seeing the project’s smooth progression in the months to come.
