Wenona Alumnae Insight Series Inspires Future Legal Minds
The Wenona Alumnae Insight Series continues to empower students with real-world career knowledge, offering a dynamic platform for senior students to explore professional opportunities beyond the classroom.
Designed as a part of the broader Wenona Careers program, this initiative connects students with Alumnae who share their experiences and insights across a variety of industries.
This term, the spotlight was on the field of law. Held on the morning of Wednesday 23 October, the event welcomed four accomplished Alumnae back to campus: Michelle Segaert (1988), Lucy Basten (Macdonald, 1990), Jane Oswald (FitzGerald, 1991), and Stephanie Dixon (2014). These inspiring panellists each brought expertise from different legal fields, offering valuable perspectives on the diverse pathways within the profession.
Students from Year 11 had the chance to engage with the speakers, gaining a deeper understanding of the many routes to a legal career and the range of universities offering law programs. The panellists emphasised the importance of resilience and passion in pursuing a career in law, while also highlighting the supportive and far-reaching Wenona Alumnae network as an asset throughout their careers.
The event, organised in collaboration with the Careers Team and Careers Captain, Bronte, perfectly embodied our Prefects’ theme of the year, ‘No grit, no pearl’. It provided an inspiring reminder to students that with dedication and persistence, they can achieve their aspirations and thrive in challenging fields.
This series is a vital part of Wenona's broader commitment to helping students realise their potential and embrace the wide range of professional opportunities available to them, nurturing their ambition and passion for lifelong success.
