Year 10 Student Selected as Young Archie Finalist
Out of more than 4,000 submissions from young artists in New South Wales, Year 10 student, Grace, was selected as a Young Archie finalist and her artwork is displayed in the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Art has always been present in Grace’s family and from a young age she and her family would often visit the Art Gallery of NSW to gaze in amazement at the finalists of the Young Archie competition, which invites budding artists between the ages of 5 and 18 to submit a portrait in a medium of their choice. Now, just a few years later, Grace’s own work of art will be hanging in the very place she visited for so many years.
We spoke with Grace to find out more about her artwork, and why she decided to base it on her grandfather. You can see Grace’s portrait at the Art Gallery of NSW from 8 June to 8 September.
