International Family Breakfast

Ensuring that Wenona is a welcoming and inclusive community for all.

On Thursday 6 June, the Wenona Foundation welcomed some of our international families to gather for breakfast in the Independent Theatre to network with each other, talk to members of our Senior Leadership Team, and hear from Principal, Dr Scott. Guests were then given an introduction to the Wenona Foundation by the Executive Director, Ms Marie Soghomonian, and the Wenona Parents’ Association (WPA), by President Ms Sharmila Soorian, who both explained how parents could involve themselves further in the School.

The origin of this event came about by chance. During a COVID lockdown, Dr Scott discovered that a group of Wenona’s international parents had formed an online community using the WeChat app, wherein they would ask questions, share news, and translate School updates for each other. Without wishing for anyone to fall behind or be ill-informed of the School’s happenings, Dr Scott wanted to address this group directly and to ensure they felt included in the Wenona community. What better way than a networking breakfast?

"It was wonderful to meet so many parents of our international community, to hear more about their Wenona experience, and to discuss ways in which they can become more involved with the School, through the WPA or the Foundation, should they wish to,” said Marie Soghomonian.

We very much appreciate everyone who took the time to join us at the breakfast, and we look forward to growing this event in years to come.
