Volunteering With Impact

Wenona Makes a Difference at Sydney’s Annual Gold Dinner.

Year 11 students brought their energy and fundraising skills to Australia's premier charity event last week, the annual Gold Dinner for the Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation. Since its inception in 1997, the Gold Dinner has raised an impressive $60 million to boost development in respiratory services, pain and palliative care, and critical care services.

The Wenona students played a role in the event's success, moving from table to table to gather extra donations and bolster the fundraising efforts throughout the evening.

Volunteer Julia (Year 11) said it was rewarding and fun to be involved. “The atmosphere was incredible and has improved my perspective on how so much money can be raised in such a small amount of time. I am sure it has opened a door for my participation in more community service activities," she said.

As one of Australia's largest and most reputable children's health charities, the Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation supports over 170,000 children each year and is dedicated to ensuring that all children have access to the finest healthcare, regardless of their age or care requirements.

Wenona has had a long association with the event and is proud of the positive impact our students have had on the lives of sick children.
