Driven by the mantra "everything takes a little extra", led by 2023 Swimming Captain Isabella, and powered by weeks of high-powered training by their coach, Mr Michael Creighton, 23 Wenona Senior School swimmers converged on Sydney Olympic Park last Friday, ready to represent Wenona with grace, courage, and determination to spare.

The morning heats session saw our swimmers qualify for 35 of 44 finals and produce copious personal best times. During lunch, they paused, reset and were rewarded with success in session two: every swimmer, every relay changeover, and every finish, combined to achieve Wenona's best IGSA Sport finals result – three gold, three silver, six bronze, and 45 more points than ever before. They ended the carnival in third place overall, for the second year in a row.

"It was a sensational outcome at the fastest IGSA Sport carnival in its 97 years of competition, made possible by our swimmers' sterling teamwork and spirit of mutual support," said Coach Creighton. "I could not be more proud of the entire team's commitment to achieving the goals we set at the start of the season, and I look forward to an increasingly bright future for Wenona Swimming."
