Academic Retreat
Setting the Class of 2023 up for success.
The final year of school is a crucial time in a young person's life. Wenona's recent Academic Retreat at Youthworks Waterslea Conference Centre in Nowra was packed with activities to promote the skills, knowledge and attitudes for success, mixed in with fun recreational activities that provided joyful opportunities to relax in the beautiful natural environment.
"The academic sessions gave us insight into the amazing university and other post-school opportunities we can explore, the social activities were so much fun and allowed us stress-free time with friends and the night activities brought us together to bond as a cohor," said Ruby (Year 11).
"Initially I was hesitant about going on retreat at the very beginning of Term 4, but this activity will probably end up being one of the highlights of my year," said Sophie (Year 11). "The academic sessions we attended were not only engaging but extremely helpful in developing skills in our respective subjects, and the physical activities such as high ropes and dancing helped alleviate any academic tension. It also helped our cohort to bond."
"The Academic Retreat was a really beneficial way to prepare for the year ahead," said Kaylyn (Year 11). "The tailored sessions were practical and fun as we could choose specific topics or subjects that we wanted to know more about. I thought it brought my House group closer as well, which I really enjoyed. Overall, it was a great experience."
"It was wonderful to see the students get the chance to refocus on their goals and prepare for the challenges of their final year as we continue to support them towards graduation and beyond," said Head of Senior College Ms Santina Restuccia.
