National Champions

SNOWWeek9 T320225

With an enviable haul of 10 medals, Wenona achieved the title of 'Overall Champion School'; in the Secondary Female Category of the Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships.

Participation in this competition has been a long time coming for the Wenona team, after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

SNOWWeek9 T320226

Following successful Regional and State campaigns, our 22 competitors came up trumps in the national contest against the best skiers and snowboarders in the country, taking home two gold, three silver and five bronze medals.

It was an achievement not due to individual performances but rather reflected the depth of talent and consistency of every team member.

Great results aside, the girls showed a level of sportsmanship and mutual support that did their coaches proud, racing their way through tough courses, rough weather, and strong competition, while maintaining their big smiles.

Snowsports participation is a significant commitment, and it takes a team to make these events possible. Wenona's success was achieved with the support of its Snowsports parents, many of whom volunteered as course officials, braving pouring rain, wind and snow to help out.

The 2023 competition will see the girls return to Thredbo, Perisher and Mt Buller and we look forward to welcoming new and returning team members next year!
