Ms Bentivoglio reflects on joining Wenona:

“I have been so lucky to be welcomed into the Wenona community with open arms. The staff have been generous and kind, and the energy and enthusiasm of the students has made it a pleasure to be in the classroom. Joining a language department that already has so much expertise and offers such a wonderful variety of languages, has been exciting. I am proud to be able to add Italian to that list, which is such an important community language in Australia, and I have really enjoyed introducing students in Year 7 and 8 to the Italian language and culture this year.

Learning a foreign language is about learning to truly communicate and connect with others and this can only be achieved through genuine interaction and appreciation for another culture and a world outside of our own experience. It's not just about having a handy trick for future travel, it is about learning to use a different part of your brain and doing the mental gymnastics required to authentically interact with someone else. As a new Wenonian, I am so grateful to be part of a community that values connection and communication and prioritises the need for a global education for our students.”
